Garden Ideas....

So, typically I have never been much of a gardener. I don't exactly have a green thumb, but I have been known to try in the past.

We have a full blank slate at our house. The back garden at the fence line has a little bit of landscaping just because of the living fence.

Have you heard of those?  It's a new thing that our subdivision is doing: There is a small chain link fence and on either side of the fence are different trees planted with the intention that as they grow, they will create a living fence. All of the trees are meant to grow at different times and create privacy.

I want some flowers around our house, probably at the front and some at the back for sure! This is house the house currently looks at the front and the back... plain jane!

Here are some flower ideas that I like:

Jen & I used to write fan fiction about the BSB ... lol
Heather & I went to see the Backstreet Boys together when I was younger; it was my first concert ever!

This will mark my 5th BSB concert! :) I am excited!

The worst puppy in puppy school.

So typically our little girl is pretty good. But as of lately, she has learned she can growl... and growl she does... especially at puppy school!

All of the puppies have play time... but if they growl or bite or anything bad, they have to be put in time out. Our little girl spent 2 weeks having timeout during most of her playtime. This week, slightly different... She got the water bottle!

Our puppy school teacher whipped out a water bottle filled with 25% vinegar & the rest water. Just enough vinegar that she won't like the smell. We don't spray her in the face, or on her body or anything (don't get freaked out!) but we spray a light mist over top of her. So she can put together the sour taste of vinegar with the sour behaviour she demonstrates.

We have also learned that this spray bottle is another technique in getting her to stop jumping when people come in the door.

Oh man! Lets hope this works.... her growls and jumps have got to stop!

Anyone else have this problem with their puppies?

Roommates and Job Hunt

Hello,

So you may know, that we have some temporary short term roommates living with us. From Monday AM to Thursday AM we are a FULL house around here. Some of the boys that Todd worked with in Ottawa, are working here in Kingston and they needed a place to live for 3 nights out of the week.

We offered that they could move in with us, which has been good (surprisingly ... lol I never thought living with so many boys would be a good thing, as I have never had a boy roommate until living with Todd)...

We barely see the boys, and they drive Todd to work... and they all go to the gym (hence encouraging a healthy lifestyle).... It really has been a good thing.

We just found out, that we thought they might be here until ... November ish? And their contract is ending much sooner, like MUCH sooner. I won't get into exact details because the one thing I have learned with Todd's job is that the minute you think one thing.... it's definitely another! lol But we will just have 1 full time roomie soon...

The house is going to be quiet ;-) lol

That being said, I need to find a full time job. Ugh, I am tired of working part time retail. I do love working with people, but I need a job where I can utilize my skills! ( I got skillz!)

So the hunt is on!! Wish me luck! ;-)

Our Boxer Puppy

We welcomed a little boxer puppy into our lives on Feb 8th.

The breeder lives about 10 minutes away, & she had 2 girl puppies when we went out. Our little gal, was super curious and wanted to meet us right away; the other little girl wanted to explore the house. I think we made the right decision.
Prior to getting our little girl, we hadn't spent much time deciding what kind of dog we would like or really when we should get a dog. She was, sort of, my valentines day present from Todd.

We picked her up on a Saturday with Todd's work buddy, James. He has a boxer, so his opinion of these puppies, the breeder and the dog parents was really valuable to us. Right away, he got a good feeling from all of the above. We picked her up & went to Pet Smart.
Big Mistake!
Pet Smart, as we know now, on any given day will equate to one person shopping and one person being surrounded by people and other puppies, checking out this pup. It is pure chaos with a puppy as cute as Raegan! So Pet Smart on the day we bought the puppy was overwhelming. I ended up leaving the store & leaving Todd & James in charge of buying what we would need!
We spent the entire day, trying to figure out a name that suited this little gal. At the breeders, they called her Queen Bee... She was the biggest puppy & took charge! Oddly enough, we decided we liked the name Raegan... so we looked into it & the name is Gaelic for 'little queen'. Meant to be!

We just took her into the vet for her shots before puppy school and she weighed 18.1 lbs. The vet said, on average she will grow 2 lbs a week! We are going to have a big dog on our hands!

These pictures are from the first 2 days of having her with us!
